What’s New in Kaseware 6.2: Enhancing Investigative Insight, Speed, and Collaboration
As investigations become more complex, the systems supporting them must evolve accordingly. In this latest release, Kaseware 6.2 focuses on refining operational workflows, expanding artificial intelligence capabilities, and enhancing data control across teams.
Whether you’re overseeing multi-agency investigations, managing internal security cases, or ensuring compliance in high-risk sectors, version 6.2 offers several key updates that improve speed, usability, and analytical depth, without sacrificing security.
Key Updates in Kaseware 6.2
1. Intelligent Export Tools for Better Reporting
Clear and complete documentation is critical when reporting investigative findings. With 6.2, PDF exports are now more consistent and intuitive:
- Custom Sorting: Users can configure the order in which case items appear in Combined PDF exports. This includes automated sorting for predictable layouts or manual reordering for specificity.
- Clickable Table of Contents: PDFs can now include an interactive table of contents, making it easier for recipients to navigate long or detailed exports.
- Evidence-Rich Reports: Exported LEIRs (Law Enforcement Incident Reports) now include full property and image attachments, ensuring reports reflect the most accurate picture of evidence.
2. Accelerated Case Summaries with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The ability to distill key insights quickly is no longer optional, it’s essential. With Kaseware’s AI Summarization:
- Summaries of documents, attachments, and full investigations can be generated automatically.
- These AI-generated summaries can be written into description fields or case summaries, preserving them as part of the official record.
- Admins retain oversight of usage metrics, maintaining transparency and control.
Available for Connections clients or higher tiers.
3. Streamlined Event Management
Organizational calendars are no longer just for scheduling, they’re operational assets.
- The Events Calendar now supports role-based visibility, allowing sensitive events to be hidden or limited by permission.
- Full event lifecycle management enables users to plan, assign, track attendance, and close out events, such as training sessions or operational briefings.
This feature is available as an add-on.
4. Enhanced Control in Incident Reporting
For agencies looking to improve data consistency across LEIRs:
- The “Arrested By” field can now be configured as a required field.
- LEIRs marked “Agency Assist” are now searchable in Advanced Search, improving cross-agency visibility and report discoverability.
These changes support better internal controls and make interagency cooperation more effective in time-sensitive environments.
5. Smarter Organizational Structure Search
For administrators and analysts managing large organizational hierarchies:
- Org Entities can now be searched using unique identifiers, such as usernames or ID numbers.
- This enhancement makes it easier to locate individual users, especially in large or multi-jurisdictional organizations.
6. Faster Insights Within Investigations
Data overload is often the enemy of timely analysis. The Investigation module has been enhanced to support:
- Calculated fields for instant visibility into case aging, status, and jurisdiction.
- Built-in search tools that help you quickly locate people, entities, or documents tied to the case.
- Real-time updates when access permissions change, ensuring proper visibility without manual reconfiguration.
7. Improved Asset Management and Reporting
The 6.2 release separates asset tracking from evidentiary processes, giving greater control over non-evidence property:
- Assets must now be assigned before custody actions, reducing errors.
- New asset categories and customizable fields improve classification and auditing.
- Chain-of-custody and asset data are now accessible via Metabase for robust reporting and compliance monitoring.
Available for Connections clients or higher.
8. Interface and Usability Enhancements
Polished design improves efficiency without requiring retraining:
- Quick Search has been expanded to reduce clicks when locating people, cases, or entities.
- Light/Dark Mode is now supported more comprehensively, including the Recent Entities bar.
- Public Submission Forms now launch with a pre-filled, configurable “Involved Entity” field, reducing friction for users and the public alike.
9. API Stability and Interoperability
For customers leveraging GraphQL or REST APIs:
- String-based tenant identifiers are now supported, preventing disruptions in long-standing API integrations.
- Known issues when creating drug, electronics, and username entities via the API have been resolved.
- You can now safely update filing number classifications via GraphQL.
