A Career in the Secret Service

John started his career as a Special Agent in the Secret Service in 1983, a role that saw him serve under five U.S. presidents, including Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Within his 25 year tenure, he participated in a wide variety of assignments in both the investigative and protective intelligence missions of the agency.

Throughout his career, John served in various senior appointments including Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service Office of Government and Public Affairs and Attaché of the Secret Service Paris Field Office.  There he was responsible for the oversight of the largest Secret Service overseas district, to include offices in London, Moscow, Interpol (Lyon), Europol (The Hague), Madrid, and Frankfurt. Among the highlights of his career, John is proud to have been liaised to the Senate Judiciary Committee, following 9/11, to take part in the development of the Patriot Act legislation.  He also was proud to have been part of the National Special Security Event planning for the Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002, and then as the Special Agent in Charge/Attache in Paris from 2004 – 2007.  There he was proud to have been directly responsible for the diplomatic and operational coordination with representatives at the highest levels of foreign law enforcement, security and intelligence, throughout his region of responsibility.

Following his retirement in 2007, John was appointed as the Chief Security Officer of the White House from 2007 to 2010, where he developed, managed and implemented the security policies and programs supporting the White House Complex and the multiple entities of the Executive Office of the President.  This position required daily coordination with the Secret Service, the White House Military Office, the National Security Council, and operational oversight for all policies and programs regarding White House Physical and Personnel Security, Cyber Security and Continuity of Operations.

Supporting Kaseware’s Success

Following his career in public service, John began his second career in the private sector focused on business development, sales, and consulting at Kaseware.  While many of his former colleagues transitioned into operational roles in the private sector, John chose to pursue sales and business development. His decision was driven by a desire to leverage his expertise in a new way, while still contributing to the field he’s dedicated his life to – security. He is able to apply his over three decades of experience and knowledge of public sector security dynamics and requirements, along with his international experience, into creating effective security software solutions.

John first joined Kaseware as an Advisory Board Member in 2020, and then transitioned to full-time, becoming the Executive Vice President. Along with the support he provides inside the company, his customer-facing position oversees the relationships with public and private sector organizations to adopt and effectively implement the Kaseware solution.
